The Meeting House in Oakland Mills

Our March program will feature a presentation from AARP, the American Association of Retired Persons. Specifically, guest speaker Steven Midge, will share “How to Avoid Fraud, Scrams, and Identify Theft." This is certainly a timely topic, and we’re confident members will benefit from the latest information as well as tips to avoid being victimized. There will also be ample time for members to catch up with retired colleagues and friends, celebrate birthdays, and win a door prize or two.
Members can register for the meeting electronically or by using the mail-in form using links below. And as always, we’ll be accepting donations for Comfort Cases and the Food Bank. Baskets will be available for nonperishable food items, gently used books, journals, stuffies, and personal hygiene items. HEART members’ generosity is astounding, and we thank you in advance for supporting those in need.

Comfort Cases
We’re excited to introduce a new service project, Comfort Cases. Their mission, to “inspire communities to bring dignity and hope to youth in foster care,” helps support the 270,000+ youth who enter foster care each year. Most children arrive to their foster placement with little in the way of clothes or personal belongings. Comfort Cases staff supports foster children in two ways: by providing police and social workers with new duffle bags for children to transport their belongings, and by including in those bags special “cases” filled with comfort and essential items to ease the transition into foster care.
