General Membership Meetings
The May 2020 meeting is cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. We hope to resume meetings in the Fall.
Join us on Wednesday, May 27th,
for a spring visit to Longwood’s 1,000+ acres of vibrant gardens
and beautiful woodlands. Recognized as one of the premier
horticultural display gardens in the US, the dazzling displays of
native and exotic plants elevate the art of horticulture to a whole new level.
And don’t forget the main fountain garden, built to rival Europe’s most celebrated waterworks!
The trip has two departure sites: Eyre Bus terminal in Glenelg or LongGate Park & Ride in Ellicott City. Our approximate departure time is 8:30 am with a return time of 5:45 pm. The ticket price, $48-55 depending on final numbers, includes transportation via motor coach and admission to the park.
Let Sue (email@example.com or 443-878-6883) know if you’d like to reserve tickets; we need a minimum of 35 participants by April 25th to host the trip. Family and friends are welcome!
Watch this space for the next opportunity!
We’re excited to introduce a new service project, Comfort Cases. Their mission, to “inspire communities to bring dignity and hope to youth in foster care,” helps support the 270,000+ youth who enter foster care each year. Most children arrive to their foster placement with little in the way of clothes or personal belongings. Comfort Cases staff supports foster children in two ways: by providing police and social workers with new duffle bags for children to transport their belongings, and by including in those bags special “cases” filled with comfort and essential items to ease the transition into foster care. Click here to watch a cool video and see lists of items to donate.
Suggested donations include personal items (deodorant, shampoo), pajamas (particularly larger sizes), unisex journals, and new/gently used books.
