HEART Service Projects

Comfort Cases
Their mission is to bring dignity and hope to children and youth as they enter foster care. Comfort Cases® are backpacks filled with brand new items including pajamas, socks, a blanket, a stuffed animal, a hygiene kit, a dental kit, and other age-appropriate supplies. Each Comfort Case is meant to provide comfort and the essentials for a child’s first night in foster care.

HEART supports this organization with generous donations from our members of personal items (deodorant, shampoo, toothbrush), pajamas (particularly larger sizes), unisex journals, coloring books, and new/gently used books.

Howard County Food Banks
Their mission is to diminish poverty and enable self-sufficiency for all Howard County individuals, families and children in need.

HEART supports the local food banks with non-perishable food items and personal hygiene items that are donated by our members at our luncheon/meetings. Thank you for your generosity! Click here for more information on their most needed items.

Maryland
Ronald MacDonald House
Located in Baltimore, Maryland's only RMDH has been collecting aluminum pull tabs since 1996. Pull-tabs are taken to a local recycling center, where they are weighed and redeemed for cash per pound. This money is used to purchase gas for their shuttle that takes families to and from area hospitals. It has been a helpful fundraiser for the House. Besides benefiting the families of RMH, collecting pull-tabs for recycling is an environmentally friendly practice as well!

HEART members are encouraged to pop the tab off of any soda, soup, or food can (even tennis ball cans!) no matter what size.
Heartfelt Generous Donations
HEART, at each business meeting luncheon throughout the year, will continue to collect donations for Comfort Cases, as well as our local food banks. We all recognize that many of life's necessities do not cost what they use to (HELLO grocery bill!). Our food bank, in particular, are struggling to meet the needs in the local community and beyond. The generosity of our members has certainly made a difference in the past and we are confident it will continue to do so in the coming year. Thank you, in advance, to our HEART members for considering the needs of others, whether through a food donation, a donation to Comfort Cases, or by saving your aluminum pull-tabs for the RMDH of Maryland. Your constant and consistent generosity is truly heartfelt!
