UPDATE: Maryland Pension System Reverses Decision to Discontinue Paper Copies

Updated: Feb 3

UPDATE -- MRSPA members.....please read the following message from Wanda Twigg, Executive Director of MRSPA.

The Maryland State Retirement and Pension System has reversed course on moving to a digital only platform for sharing information with retirees. You will recall that following the January 2026 paper copy of the Retiree News and Notes newsletter, that all docs were to be sent only electronically unless a member contacted the pension system to specifically request paper documents – and that a person would need to set up an account int the pension system portal to access their documents electronically.

This is no longer the case. The pension system WILL continue to send paper copies of the Retiree News and Notes newsletter and your bi-annual facsimile check showing your pension deposit totals with deductions. I received this information from Deputy Executive Director of MSRA, Derrick Johnson, just this morning when I contacted him with a related concern raised by a member.

We will also inform members via the next edition of the MRSPA News.

Thank you,

Wanda
